First pony purchase of 2020!

I went to the Flea Market yesterday as I hadn't been in awhile and was just in the mood to go. The fabulous 60 degree weather we had over Xmas has departed and the weather gods have reminded us that it is January with the gloomy grey and cold. I wasn't sure if the weather was going to cooperate with my plans as it was sleeting pretty heavily at 10 AM, but that slowed down pretty quickly and the sun even broke through when it was time to leave.

Flea marketing has been pretty much more misses than hits lately, but I figured since I had some good luck a couple weeks ago at a flea market about 45 minutes away, so I was due a good run at my local one. At first it didn't look like I was going to find a thing. I was hoping - desperately hoping - that I would find a My Little Pony. Any pony in any condition (well besides g3.5 and g4 :P), be it one I already had, one in need of repair, etc. There's a booth there that is kind of a catch all of cheap toys, usually McDonald's type of toys. Most are in bags and piled up on 2 large tables. I have found some good things there - like a really cheap MH Gooliope. At first glance I didn't see anything there, but my collector Spidey senses were tingling. So, I did what any self respecting collector would do, and I started digging. (Apparently with such gusto that the family member with me was wondering what I was doing over there.) As I got down to the bottom, I spied one!!! A g3 white unicorn that I later learned is named Sweetie Belle. And it was in really good shape! A few marks, but nothing that was either not removable or live withable. (I'm not a picky collector.)

Feeling fueled by one success I dug with more energy (or frenzy, you could possibly say.) And I found more! Next was a Baby Moondancer that was pretty filthy. No matter though! Glancing up all of my digging had dislodged a G1 Windy which I greedily snatched up. My efforts landed me a few more ponies - another g3 pegasus, a baby Lofty, Baby Cotton Candy and Firely. 6 ponies in all! The g3s are in really good shape, but the vintage ones are in varying levels of stains and filth. Their hair though is all pretty good. And each one was only 99 cents!

I am excited to do the pony spa. I was all set to do it last night, but last night was spent watching the Patriots game, and a game you are that invested in isn't the right moment for a pony spa.

I'll probably watch the Saints/Vikings game tonight, but since it's not a game I care a whole lot about, that will be just fine to have on in the background. I will be sure to take before and after pics of my ponies. I had taken a picture of my finds yesterday but I deleted the pic off of my phone right after I posted it on IG so I need to retake one to post on this blog.
